UPDATED: From the Wires - Burt Hoovis on Tiger and Lance

Occasional contributor to Pappillon, Burt Hoovis, offers us today a delightful skewering of the notion of running as cross-training, Lance Armstrong, and Tiger. Excerpt below:

Enjoy!

Update: A Pappillon reader takes umbrage with a Hoovis reprising, and all of our words seem to match those of someone who would be interested in the Special Olympics.

  1. A thought: Quit reprising Hoovis. He does his thing. Do yours. The Cuba pieces, cycling miscellanea. We know where to find Hoovis if we want too.

  2. Hey, easy there anon. Hoovis is a contributor here, and the reprising of his post was with his permission. When content is as good as that, it should be promoted.

BTW: I think it's funny that there is an ad for the 2009 Special Olympics served-up next to this post...

  3. As for Cuba, Anon, what's left to write about? The country is being raped and pillaged - her citizens turned into slaves by the Castro Brothers - and my family obliterated.

And all the while Useful Idiots Oliver Stone and Michael Moore brainwash seemingly educated people into thinking that Cuba=Paradise, not hell.

  4. Apologies if it sounded as though I were accusing you of: sloth, plagiarism or any other journalistic sins. Not the intent. My guess is that you have plenty to say about subjects like Cuba, chemical dependency and mental health in the peloton, etc. To me, those posts are the most interesting.

  5. Anon, thanks for taking the time to clarify. It's appreciated. Plus, you set in motion a chain of events that culminated in the Special Olympics ad! Thanks!

We've got some good stuff for you here, just have to figure out how to get it all onto paper and still complete the rest of life's assignments.

    Keep reading - and posting!

Oh, and if you have a specific article suggestion, please leave it as a comment or send it to me directly and we'll try to make it happen.
